AIDS Healthcare Foundation - Housing is a Human Right

At Housing is a Human Right (HHR), an initiative powered by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, we believe in a world where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing. Housing is not just a commodity; it's a cornerstone of health, stability, and human dignity. In response to the escalating affordable housing crisis, HHR dedicates itself to advocating for equitable housing legislation and policies.

Our mission is to fight tirelessly for a future where housing affordability isn't a privilege but a right accessible to all, irrespective of their background or economic status. We understand the intricate connection between housing and overall well-being and strive to create a society where this understanding is reflected in every housing policy and practice.

AHF serves as the Intermediary responsible for final subaward decisions, executing cooperative agreements and contracts with subawardees, and reviewing and approving subawardee invoices.

Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants

Founded in 1983 as the nation’s first and area wide HUD tenant coalition, MAHT is the only resident-run, membership coalition providing organizing and technical assistance to HUD and otherwise publicly subsidized tenants in Eastern and Central Massachusetts.

The Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants (MAHT) organizes, trains and provides technical assistance to tenant groups in privately owned HUD or publicly subsidized multifamily housing, currently representing over 8,000 predominantly low-income families in Eastern and Central Massachusetts. MAHT works to preserve and improve at-risk buildings as permanently affordable housing with a maximum of resident participation, ownership and control. Through tenant organizing we have saved 13,600 units as affordable housing, one building at a time, since 1983.

MAHT serves as the cosponsor responsible for marketing the program, screening subapplicants, helping applicants refine their proposals, recommending subapplicants to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation for subawardee selection, and providing training and support to subawardees.
